I am currently a junior at Auburn University, where I am enrolled in the College of Agriculture. I am pursuing the pre-professional option in the Department of Poultry Science. My experiences have led to my passion for agriculture, science, and service to others.
I was born and raised in a small town in Alabama. I have spent the majority of my life on a poultry and cattle farm. It was the time spent on this farm that expanded my appreciation for agriculture. The experiences I gained from growing up on a farm taught me the value of hard work. It showed me that through hard work and perseverance, accomplishments that seemed impossible can be achieved. This taught me to set my aspirations high and never give up until they are reached.
Growing up in a small town showed me the importance of helping others. Farm work relies on the assistance of others from the community. This support offered to others increased my desire for serving others.
I have always been interested in the field of science. Participation in science related studies during high school furthered my desire to pursue a degree in the field of science. After graduating high school as valedictorian, I began my journey at Auburn University. The opportunity to combine my passion for agriculture, science, and serving others made Auburn the best fit for my career plan. The pre-professional option through the College of Agriculture will allow me to achieve my goal of positively impacting the lives of others in a field of science.
